Mums in May?

This 25 cent garage sale find has already found its place in our yard
and on the patio!  Light, portable, floral and with a little rust--perfectly suited
for yard-ware.
 Above....my husband's favorite flowers -- and I can't remember its name!
Lamb's Ear is ready for a trim....
and our roses have NEVER looked so good!
Now I've got to figure out what to do with the mums!
The growing season must have started w-a-y too early.
It looks to me that they are already budding!
What to do?  What to do?

  2. I think your garden blossoms are beautiful as well and what a fun tv tray for the patio - a great bargain.

In my area, we trim our mums to keep them shorter and so they branch out more but only till the 4th of July so they bloom in Aug/Sept.

  3. Things look lovely. Those Roses are gorgeous. Keep the Mums deadheaded and they'll be fine.

  4. Your husband's flowers look like Columbine. I love them too. And I wish I could be successful in growing Lamb's Ears. I keep trying!

    Lovely flowers.

    1. Sandy, I'm sure they're NOT columbine (we have some of those, too). I forget where you live....but I'd love to give you some Lamb's Ear. It really grows here in NE Indiana! I find it difficult to keep confined to where I want it to be. It gets gangly fast....Still, I like it.

  5. Hi Rebecca,

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog! Your white rose looks absolutely beautiful. I hope my roses will bloom in such profusion as well!!!

Love your table. Such a great find!

  6. No doubt, this year is a strange one for bloom times. My white Iceberg roses are just starting to bloom strongly, but actually started almost a month ago. Mums can be cut back, but the advice to deadhead will keep them blooming right along.

  7. I love your rusty rake head in with the rose! Great idea!

By the way, I think your husband's flower is Husker's Red penstemon....
