Critters and Creatures

This critter is what started the wheels turning in my mind this morning...
I went out to find yet another 1.5" of rain had fallen during the night
 One thing led to another.
Before long, I think I had photographed about every
reptile, bug, or mammal artificially posed in our yard.
(Well, not the cat or cardinals which have already
had their "day in the sun" in this blog....)

Several showed signs of washed up dirt -
indicating the force of the rain that fell during the night.
Others hung high enough to avoid the mud bath.

I'm not sure where to safely place THIS latest craft project of mine.
I'd purchased the bunny in its unfinished condition many moons ago
and only yesterdayapplied some pale green stain, tacked in some eyes,
and strung beads and a bell around its neck.
WhereEVER the bunny lands, I think he'll find company.
What critters inhabit YOUR garden spaces?

It's Very Dry Here...

We REALLY need rain!  This poor clematis bloomed....but just barely.
There's not even rain in the rain barrels!

Surprise, Surprise!

We inherited this rose bush sitting right in the middle of a grassy section of our lawn.  It has not produced roses for several years.  Imagine my delight yesterday while surveying our very wet yard to find buds all over the bush!
Another surprise were the shoots of irises that I thought might be lifeless when I planted them a few weeks ago!  The rain has worked its magic.  I can't wait to see the flowers next spring.  These came from my brother in North Carolina.  I think there are several varieties.
Finally, I was amazed to see the growth on this clematis.  I just stuck a piece of a more mature plant into the ground last year.  And this is how it looks now.  (Our two mature clematis have wonderful blossoms on them and should be opening any day now.)
