This year's walnut crop has kept my husband busy!
I THINK last evening was the third pickup.
Very few remain on the tree.
Very few remain on the tree.
Last night's haul was nine wheelbarrows full.
Please don't ask me what he's doing with them all!
Oh my! It looks like about as many acorns as we have, but they're so much bigger. 9 wheelbarrows is a lot!
ReplyDeleteThe walnuts were especially huge this year, it seems to me!
DeleteThat's a lot of walnuts. I remember my parents shelling walnuts from our tree.
ReplyDeleteThese are black walnuts. Harder to shell, I'm told. And many people prefer the other other kind. We have never gotten into the process involved in drying them, etc.
DeleteWalnuts everywhere on my woods paths.
ReplyDeleteYears ago would dry and crack.
They are so tasty in so many items I bake.
But no longer dry and crack them
too difficult.
I use Walnut flavoring in my pumpkin bread..
:) I think I'm too impatient for the whole process.
