Unsophisticated Splendor

I stepped outside into temporary sunshine to check the rain gauge.
Another 2" of rain has fallen here with more forecast for the next three days!
I couldn't help but notice the unsophisticated splendor of the hosta...
right "up there" with the unsophisticated assemblage on our front porch!
I had to document even MORE unsophisticated potential
represented by this first of a multitude of flowers waiting in the wings!
What Unsophisticated Pleasures do YOU enjoy in your garden?

  1. It's supposed to rain here for the next few days, but we need some right now.
We like unsophisticated pleasures too - lots of hosta and those fun touches that you are so good at!

  2. Beauty doesn't need sophistication does it? Hostas thrill me with their ease of growth and the tropical feeling that the larger ones add. I'm pretty fond of brushing against mint, rosemary, lavender or any fragrant foliage and enjoying the moment.

  3. I never liked the flowers on hosta and always kept them broken out...(love the leaves) Our biggest hosta got a layer of cement over them.. just a little bunch on the other side of the steps now. I do like your pots. ha ha

    1. I understand. They CAN get a little gangly...but if you look closely there IS beauty in them.

  4. Hosta is held in high regard here, but I am not too fond of the flowers myself. Buffalo grows Hosta really well.

  5. Rebecca,
Your hostas are really something. I planted some of them years ago but they died. I think they need rain and a good soil. Mine is made of clay and I think they do no like it !
Each morning, my unsophisticated pleasure is to tour my small garden and to smell the roses, watching the dew on their petals.
