Finally!

Finally!  We came home from our overnight in Chicago to find the yellow lilies had opened beautifully!
See them in the background (to the left) behind this Russian Sage?
The hosta were blooming, too.  Each with a unique shade and shape.

  1. Beautiful lilies! Too bad they don't re-bloom all summer. My husband and I were discussing whether to cut the blossoms from our hostas. I think it was Dick Crum who said they should not be allowed to bloom. If he said why, I've certainly forgotten.

  2. If you find out why one should cut the blossoms from hosta, let me know. Maybe it drains the nutrients from the root system? I HAVE seen them in bouquets and they look charming. I will probably cut some of ours and do that for tomorrow's centerpiece.

  4. The hostas are beautiful but nothing says welcome home like some fresh faced yellow daylilies. They are lovely.
